UFC 142 Predictions

Tomorrow night the UFC returns to Brazil with UFC 142. The card is pretty good. Unfortunately I will be missing it. Instead I will be watching (with most of America) Tim Tebow and the Broncos make a run at the Patriots.

Here are my predictions for tomorrow nights fights. I will be checking MMAJunkie often to see how the fights are going.

Felipe Arantes by decision over Antonio Carvalho

Mike Pyle by 2nd round submission over Ricardo Funch

Yuri Alcantara by 1st round TKO over Michihiro Omigawa

Ednaldo Oliveira by 1st round TKO over Gabriel Gonzaga

Thiago Tavares by decision over Sam Stout

Edson Barboza by decision over Terry Etim

Erick Silva by 2nd round TKO over Carlo Prater

Rousimar Palhares by 3rd round TKO over Mike Massenzio

Anthony Johnson by decision over Vitor Belfort

Jose Aldo by 2nd round KO over Chad Mendes

So what do you think? Start the debating, if you dare! I have changed my mind on the Vitor Belfort fight. I was interviewed by the Christian Post and previously picked Vitor. After Anthony Johnson missed weight by 11 pounds, it is obvious he is going into the fight MUCH larger than Vitor. I remember his fight against Dan Hardy well (I was ringside at that fight). All he did was take the much smaller Hardy down and lay on top of him for 3 rounds. I predict he will do the exact same thing against Vitor Belfort. If Vitor doesn’t take him out in with his initial onslaught in the first 60 seconds I think he will lose a very boring 3 round fight.

Dana White will then cut Anthony Johnson for not making weight and then following it up with a boring fight.

UFC 140 Predictions

I have one hour to get my predictions in before the fights start. So rather than beat around the bush, here they are….

Walel Watson by 2nd round submission over Yves Jabouin

UFC on Fox Predictions

So many fight cards it is getting difficult to keep up! I know these are late but as they always say, better late than never!

Aaron Rosa by 2nd round submission over Matt Lucas

Mike Pierce by decision over Paul Bradley

Cole Escovedo by 2nd round submission over Alex Caceres

Robert Peralta by decision over Mackens Semerzier

Kid Yamamoto by decision over Darren Uyenoyama

DaMarques Johnson by 2nd round TKO over Clay Harvison

Cub Swanson by decision over Ricardo Lamas

Ben Henderson by 3rd round TKO over Clay Guida

Junior Dos Santo by 2nd round TKO over Cain Velasquez

UFC 138 Predictions

The UFC has so many cards now a days it is difficult to keep up with my predictions.  My daughter begged me to watch New Moon, I declined. She pleaded and we compromised on it being on in the background as I blogged. So with New Moon as inspiration, here are my predictions for UFC 138.

Chris Cariaso by decision over Vaughan Lee

Chris Cope by decision over Che Mills

Philip De Fries by 2nd round submission over Rob Broughton

Michihiro Omigawa by decision over Jason Young

Cyrille Diabate by decision over Anthony Perosh

Terry Etim by 2nd round TKO over Eddie Faaloloto

Thiago Alves by 3rd round TKO over Papy Abedi

Renan Nascimento by decision over Brad Pickett

Mark Munoz by decision over Chris Leben

I have to admit, I was pretty torn by the main event. I want Leben to win and think he could win by knock out but ultimately think Mark Munoz’s wrestling is going to get him a boring decision win.

So let me know what you think. (My daughter changed her mind and put in Eclipse. Now I am sneaking away.)

UFC 137 Predictions

Dana White has the best and worst job at the same time. Best because his whole life revolves around MMA fights. Worst because his whole life revolves around MMA fighters! Four months ago this card was so stacked I was planning on taking a trip to Las Vegas to watch it live. Georges St Pierre versus Nate Diaz was the headliner. Carlos Condit versus BJ Penn was the co-mainevent.  Then it switched to GSP vs Condit and Diaz vs Penn. Still great. Now injuries to headliners and undercard fighters leave us with a three round main event of Nate Diaz versus BJ Penn. Not even Dana White and all the UFC apologists can put a positive spin on this decimated card. Four months later and I am debated whether to spend the $55.00 on the PPV or just watch the Huskies play Arizona.

Regardless of what I do, the fights must go on and so must my predictions. So here they are.

Clifford Starks by 2nd round TKO over Dustin Jacoby

Chris Camozzi by 2nd round TKO over Francis Carmont

Daniel Downes by decision over Ramsey Nijem

Brandon Vera by decision over Eliot Marshall

Tyson Griffin by decision over Bart Palaszewski

Donald Cerrone by 2nd round submission over Dennis Siver

Scott Jorgenson by decision over Jeff Curran

Hatsu Hioki by 2nd round submission over George Roop

Roy Nelson by 1st round KO over Mirko Cro Cop

Matt Mitrione by 2nd round KO over Cheick Kongo

Nate Diaz by decision over BJ Penn

So what do you think? Let the debating begin!
