Sorry to hear that the NY Times dumped on you and misrepresented you.

I wrote a post over at my blog which took a few jabs at MMA ministries (sorry for the pun), before I read this reaction post.

After reading the whole story this sounds like a great example of the meeting place between a pastor's interest and the needs of the community.

Best of luck to you.

I am one of those who posted some comments over at Eugene Cho's blog critical of the supposed use of violent sport as a way to attract people to Christ. My comments were questions more than comments, really. I was given some flack for them, for suggesting that maybe violence isn't the best thing in the world for the followers of Christ to be engaged in.

I still think that much of the UFC and MMA and similar sports remains problematic for the people of Christ. But I just want to say here that this is a great, even beautiful, post. Thank you.

What saddens me is the people who decide to let what they read in a newspaper article be all they know of a subject, and then judge and vilify people because of it.

Keep fighting the good fight, Brandon.

Over at www.LockFlow.com we have over seven pages in one thread dedicated to MMA & Church http://lockflow.com/viewtopic.php?t=22606 I have had several people email or tell me how much they have appreciated that thread. Your article and it's influence will be much bigger then any of us realize.

I've been spending time with Demico over the past week or so and learned about you through him and then the NYT article came out. Love the message you send - it's the same message we try to send. Keep fighting the good fight.

Brandon,

We love you. We are proud of you. Keep listening to the Holy Spirit. Your doing great. The following scripture is for you to cling to as well my brother.

“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
